Welcome to KITE College

KITE College is an Independent specialist Further Education and Training Provider for 16-25-year olds with learning difficulties.  We are a registered charity and are supported by a board of trustees who have a wealth of experiences and credentials in education, SEN, further education and public services.

We provide the experience of real college life on a much smaller scale than in mainstream colleges. Our programmes are designed to deliver transformational and sustainable life changing experiences for young people with learning and behaviour difficulties.

Learning through supported bespoke education and training programmes, developed around their EHCP, our young learners will build confidence, develop independence and be fully supported to achieve their goals.

KITE College’s ethos is to ensure all learners are equipped with the necessary skills to enter sustainable employment, further training and adulthood.

  1. Main study programme:

Learners can choose from a range of subject areas to suit their career goals and interests.  We deliver courses across a variety of sector areas and we are currently offering vocational training in: Motor Vehicle Technology, Hair & Beauty, Construction Multi Skills.  We also run the Foundation Learning Programme, for learners who may not yet be ready to take on a vocational training course or may not yet be sure of their chosen vacation.

It is anticipated that other courses such as Welding and Fabrication and ICT, and Media will also run in future academic years.

Support:

Specialist trained and experienced staff will provide all learners with the support they need to progress and achieve.  Through small group teaching as well as personal support programmes, learners will build on their confidence and develop skills needed to become independent learners.  All learners will have access to our Mental Health and Wellbeing service.   We are experienced in working with young people with a range of disabilities.

  1. Maths and English:

English and maths are essential skills for everyday life as well as in the workplace.  Learners who have not achieved a grade 4 (C) or above will be required to study these subjects as either Functional Skills or GCSEs.  These will also be embedded into all vocational programmes relevant to the industry.

  1. Careers and Work experience:

Through our Careers and work experience programme, learners will have access to a range of work experience activities including work placements, experience of work within the college and employer visits to the college to share their insights into the world of work and industry knowledge.
