STATEMENT OF INTENT:
Level 1 Introduction to the Hospitality Industry
The Level 1 Preparing for a Career in The Hospitality Industry at KITE College is designed to give learners a practical and accessible introduction to one of the UK’s largest and most varied employment sectors. Learners will explore a range of hospitality environments, such as cafés, restaurants, hotels and events and will gain first-hand experience of the standards and skills expected in the industry.
Our intent is to:
- Develop learners’ practical skills in areas such as food preparation, food and drink service, customer care and maintaining safe and clean environments.
- Introduce learners to the importance of teamwork, communication and professionalism within a hospitality setting.
- Encourage learners to take pride in their work by producing and serving food, supporting events and providing a positive customer experience.
- Build independence and confidence by enabling learners to carry out real hospitality tasks, make decisions and problem-solve in practical situations.
- Provide opportunities for learners to link their learning to everyday life skills, such as preparing meals, serving others and working safely.
- Prepare learners for their next steps, whether that be progression to a Level 2 qualification, supported employment, volunteering, or community engagement within the hospitality and catering sector.
This course not only helps learners gain an understanding of the hospitality industry but also equips them with the transferable skills and independence needed to succeed both in work and in life.
