ICT

STATEMENT OF INTENT: IT

At KITE we understand that technology is everywhere and will play an important part in learners’ lives. We aim to deliver high-quality teaching and learning to enable all learners to achieve their personal best and to become independent users of computing technologies, gaining confidence and enjoyment from their activities.

The Gateway qualification that is at the heart of our IT curriculum is a large collection of units. This allows us to choose content that is of interest to our learners and useful for their chosen career path.

This course allows learners to experience many aspects of IT. We develop a curriculum that is accessible to every learner regardless of age or stage and promote inclusion throughout the curriculum. We provide a supportive environment for all learners to flourish with a range of different activities to promote their critical thinking, analytical and technical skills.

We promote the use of technology safely, respectfully and responsibly. Dealing with social media, fake news and having ownership of their own digital footprint are vital skills that all young people need. This prepares learners with the skills and knowledge for the next stage
of their education or working life in modern Britain.
